The Center for Guided Montessori Studies (CGMS) offers both teacher certification and professional development programs. This page provides information on our Early Childhood (primary) and Elementary teacher certification programs. For information on our continuing education courses for parents, teachers and administrators, please see our Professional Development section.

Our teacher certification programs are offered in either of two forms: as a Full Certicate, or as an Associate Certificate program. What's the difference? Both of these contain an online component, but the Full Certificate program also requires a small residency, or two small residencies for Elementary students.

Elementary students please note: only students incapable of attending the residencies are eligible to enroll in the Elementary Associate Certificate program. Cohort Start Dates


The next Primary and Elementart cohorts are scheduled to begin on the following date:

October 11, 2010
Additional cohorts will be added as necessary

Base tuition for the associate Primary certificate is $4500(US) for citizens of the United States, Canada and Europe. For the tuition rates of other countries, to discuss payment plans, or to inquire about tuition assistance, please contact our offices.

Completion of the Associate Certificate program is performed entirely online, and qualifies students for the IMC Associate certificate. Note that for an additional fee a three week residential program can be attended, which qualifies students for the Full Certificate.


Residency Dates


This program combines the online program with a 2 and a half week summer session. Dates and locations for the residencies have not yet been set. 2010 dates were:
Early Childhood - Sarasota June 16 - July 2, 2010
Early Childhood and Elementary - Indianapolis - July 7-23

Tuition


CGMS Associate Certificate tuition is comparable to a traditional training program. Note that the Full Certificate residential programs are not gauranteed to be held at the same location from year to year, although we do try. Full Certificate tuition does not include room and board.


CGMS unfortunately can not offer full scholarships, but we do offer variable pricing based on country of origin, ability to pay and the number of payments tuition is broken into. Please contact us to discuss which custom payment arrangements work best for you.

Early Childhood (3-6)

Associate Certificate - $4500 (online only, no residency)
Full Certificate - $5900 (ignore residency tuition below)

Elementary(6-12)

Associate Certificate - $5700 (online only, no residency)
Full Certificate - $7200 (ignore residency tuition below)

Residency

If you enroll in the Full Certificate then the residency cost is already built into your tuition. Otherwise, the figures below are the additional cost for attending a residency when you originally enrolled in the Associate Certificate.
